Welcome to the Media Enhanced Learning Special Interest Group (MELSIG) wiki
MELSIG is a self-organising Special Interest Group that enjoys contributory sponsorship from a number of sources including the UK Higher Education Academy. The inaugural meeting was in January 2008, when the Podcasting for Pedagogic Purposes SIG was created. Since then the remit of the group has expanded to include an interest in the use of all forms of digital media in education.
There are several dimensions to the SIG's activity aimed at leading innovation and sharing good practice. Events, which are run around the UK throughout the year, are an important part of the MELSIG approach. A host institution will provide the location, and we then liaise with them to produce the event. All events are free to attend and the days are a mix of workshops and presentations with sessions for beginners and experienced practitioners.
Our last fully booked event was on 20th April at Sheffield Hallam University Sheffield Hallam University on Friday, 8th February 2013. You can see where we have been, get a flavour of what happens at each event and find associated resources on our MEL_SIG_EVENTS page.
Anyone with an interest in using digital media in learning, teaching and assessment can join the group, by joining the MELSIG JISC Mailing list.
Please use #MELSIG in social media to refer to MELSIG and media-enhanced learning.
